BIRTHDAY'S AT BRISBANE'S BREAKY CREEK HOTEL

The Breakfast Creek Hotel is an institution, and without a doubt the largest watering holes Brisbane has to offer. Built in 1889, The Breaky Creek as it's commonly referred to is famous for their beer off the wood and unbeatable steaks. Don't expect to be ordering from the loose change menu though. A rule of life; you always get what you pay for, and the food coupled with the atmosphere, outlook, and entertainment means those meal prices are a bit more than you'd expect to spend at Sizzlers - and for good reason. On that note, if you like your steak on the pan long enough for it to be anything more than medium rare, for the love of God stick to Sizzlers's and leave the Creek for the real meat eaters.
Aside from the food, The Breaky Creek as a venue itself is amazing. There are numerous areas and sections to choose from or to reserve for functions, and ample bars so you never find yourself waiting too long for your next bitterly cold beer. You have the option of reserving areas for large groups or accessing actual function packages where you can reserve the area with service and catering packages. Personally I feel reserving the area and letting people order at their own discretion is the best option though, it efficient and hassle free, perfect for the laid back nature of the venue. On Saturday we booked the back area which looks onto the river to celebrate Sam's birthday. We simply reserved the table and allowed everyone to order, eat and come and go as they pleased. A group of mid twenty year olds who met at the ripe young age of 12, reminiscing the old times and creating new memories.
It was so lovely to catch up with everyone, some of those I haven't seen in years. It's incredible to think back to the beginning when we all met, to think about the times we'd sneak out together, our first school dance, the first time we drank, meeting up at movie marathons after begging our parent's for permission. Now we stand around sharing stories of engagements and weddings, surrounded by pregnant friends and new parents. How things change. I still feel like that 12 year old girl on her first day of high school. I want to say the only different is I have tits now, but they never came through so I guess the only difference is I can legally drink.
I ended up tucking into a petite eye fillet with garlic prawn toppers and chips, which was accompanied by their famous bread rolls. I challenge you to find anything as soft as the Breaky Creek bread rolls; impossible.
The Breaky Creek is quite sizeable and the patronage is constant. As a result the ordering system is one that can cater for and efficiently deliver mass orders of food. Unless you're in the Spanish Garden section of the Hotel, you will order at the counter and pick up your meal when your buzzer goes. The Spanish Garden is a sit down restaurant within the hotel. It offers table service if that's what something you'd prefer, but aside from that you're left to your own devices dining here. It works extremely well, I love the lace, laid back vibe the Creek puts off so well..
If you're visiting Brisbane I highly recommend coming here and experiencing the local lifestyle. Head over to their Facebook page for some additional photos and updates on events.
After shenanigans at the pub we headed back to Sam and Libs to kick on. I have the faintest recollection of getting home, all I do know is drunk me is the best kind of friend and always has my back. Despite being able to articulate properly, I managed to stop and pick myself up some Powerade's and meat pies for the inevitable hangover. I might be a drunk mess, but I'm a smart drunk mess. Sunday was everything you'd expect from a morning after; slow, mildly painful with drinkers regret. I comforted myself with endless food and UFC fights.
