If you've happened to check out my 'About Me' page you'd know that my fiancé professionally fights Muay Thai. It's safe to say I'm the biggest groupie and fan girl he has. Since we've been together he has trained and fought Muay Thai. Actually, we met in Koh Phangan, Thailand and he took me to watch my first fight in some muddy arena on the island. As messed up as it sounds, I definitely fell in love watching the kids jump in the ring and punch on. In 2013 he spent 10 months living, breathing and training the sport on Koh Samui. If I'm brutally honest about that period it sucked, I hated him being away, I even hate thinking about it. I hated how long he was gone for and when he extended his trip, but it was always more important to me that he chased his dreams and that as someone who loves him I supported him instead of stunted his opportunities and invaluable life experiences. So that's what I did. Eventually he was home and more determined than ever to win some titles in the sport.

He's had an unlucky run with fights over the past few years. Too many times have I seen him pour everything into training camps, diets and mental preparation only to have his opponent pull out from the fight. I genuinely think it's because people are too scared to fight him; I don't believe in coincidences, especially when they are that frequent. Recently he was given an opportunity to fight for the WKBF Australian Super Lightweight Title. I can't explain how happy I was for him to just have the fight and an opponent that would turn up. He began his camp. He worked so hard, getting up at 5:00am before work to train, only to finish work and go to the gym again. The most bland boring meals all day every day. No going out. No fun. Just preparation. Good thing he did too because he came home with a beautiful green belt that was overdue to be his.

He fought on a promotion called Rumble At The Ridge. His family, friends and gym buddies came to support. I could have cried when his hand was raised but I didn't, I'm actually surprised I didn't. I think I was too excited. It was the best experience. To finally see someone realise a dream of theirs is incredible, but to have witnessed all the hard work, discipline and dedication that got them there is indescribable. I'm overjoyed for him. It makes me want to better myself too, achieve something that means a lot to me. It was the most perfect weekend.

So, yeah... don't get on my bad side I guess - I'm now engaged to the Queensland and Australian Champ ;)
