MORNINGS AT CORPORATE BOX

That whole "sleep when you're dead" saying is ridiculous. I want to sleep now and when I'm dead. Sleep is my favourite thing ever, which makes early morning starts at the gym unpleasant. That is until I finish my workout and feel unstoppable.

I train at Corporate Box Gym in Lutwyche doing Muay Thai. Just a little disclaimer - in no way, shape or form am I a fighter or am I really good technique wise. I don't actually particularly know what I'm doing, but I am progressing, improving and not being as much as a gumby which is my goal at the moment. My point is, don't ask me for tips or advice; that'd be like going to someone who watches Grey's Anatomy for medical advice. Instead you can follow my journey in improving my technique and bettering my health and diet.

This morning Azzatron took the class. He takes Tuesday and Thursday mornings. We started off with 5 minutes skipping as always and then put our gloves on to warm up on the bag. This usually consists of a few rounds of uppercuts, straights, hooks and punches overhead. After the warm up we jumped on pads. I was pretty damn stoked when he said only 10 kicks left and right to start the round. Last class it was 50 kicks left and right to start and again to finish the rounds. I could barely lift my foot off the floor by the end of it, but that wasn't today.

We worked on a pretty fun combo:

- Jab, inside leg kick, switch kick, right hand, left hook, right kick, right hand, right upper elbow.

Azza wanted us to work on our upper elbow as he was seeing too many side elbows. He explained that upper elbows were important because people will guard up and it allows you to slide in between that. After working that we added on a power three and did another round.

We then jumped on the bag and did a freestyle punch on, hard and fast; when Azza called for it we had to jump down and do 10 burpees. The burpees decreased in intervals of two until there were none left. Everyone jumped in the ring for some ab workouts. After a bit of a stretch I grabbed Rock, one of the Thai trainers, and asked if he'd hold pads for me. I did three rounds with rock, finishing with some boxing.

I felt really good this morning. I wasn't as unfit as I'd imagined; I'd had about a week break after my fiancé's win. We are going to Thailand in December and I stupidly said I wanted to train over there. Now I'm freaking out. I'm so nervous for some reason aha, I need to make sure I am fit enough and coordinated enough not to completely embarrass myself. I don't want to pass out mid training, or vomit...although I'll settle for a spew over passing out.
